During the colder days and shorter daylight hours of winter, it’s not unusual to experience symptoms of the “winter blues.” These can include a lack of energy or motivation, moodiness, cravings for comfort foods, a desire to sleep more and a temptation to hibernate at home.

Although most of us can relate to these feelings to one degree or another, the blues do not have to be an inevitable part of the season, especially when caring for a loved one, according to Jane Barthen, LSW.

Baseball...At Any Age

Dad had been a baseball coach most of his life, and wanted more than anything to play again. So the folks at Artis Senior Living created a baseball diamond inside the community! When game day came, everyone turned out to play or cheer—staff, other residents and their families. The staff accommodated everybody—of all ages and abilities. Especially Dad. He got his wish. I couldn’t be more grateful.
